Parking on campus is enforced 24 hours a day for emergency and disabled parking zones. All other parking zones on campus are enforced Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Designated Parking Areas
Parking on campus is permissible in the following designated areas ONLY:
GREEN: Visitor/Vendor. Enforced M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Students living off campus do not qualify as visitors. All visitors and vendors are required to have a valid temporary parking permit to park on campus. Temporary parking permits are available at no cost at Campus Safety. The permit must be displayed on the rear-view mirror and be dated to be valid.
ORANGE: Carpool. Enforced M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Vehicles must display an SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ carpool participation permit.
BLUE: Disabled parking only. Enforced 24 hrs/day.
Vehicles must display a special handicap placard or license plate issued by a state Department of Motor Vehicles. Campus Safety does nto issue parking placards for disabled persons. Please ask your state DMV how to obtain the placard. The City of Los Angeles Department Of Transportation regularly visits our campus and cites vehicles not displaying an official handicap placard or license plate.
YELLOW: Service Vehicle. Enforced M-F 6 a.m.-5 p.m.
Short term (10 minutes or less) loading and unloading of personal vehicles. Drivers are asked to turn on the vehicle hazard lights and call Campus Safety at 323-259-2599 to advise of loading/unloading in progress.
PLAIN/NO MARKINGS: General Parking. Enforced M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Employees, students, or visitors. Campus parking permits are required to be displayed on each vehicle during enforcement period.
PLAIN/DESIGNATED FACULTY/STAFF . Enforced M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Employee parking permit is required to be displayed during enforcement period. The lower level of the parking structure on Gilman Road is designated as faculty/staff parking.
PLAIN/DESIGNATED STUDENT. Enforced M-F 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Student parking permit is required to be displayed during enforcement period. The middle level of the parking structure on Gilman Road is designated as student parking.
RED: Fire Lane/Emergency Vehicle only. No stopping or parking at any time. The City of Los Angeles DOT regularly visits our campus and cites vehicles parked at red curbs.
Securing Your Vehicle While Parked
Auto theft is a problem nationally as well as an occasional problem on campus. Campus Safety recommends you take the following precautions to to safeguard your vehicle:
- Always lock your car. Whether you leave your car for a minute, several days, or overnight, always roll up the windows, lock it and take the keys.
- Keep valuables out of sight. Never leave anything inside you vehicle. Lock your things in your trunk
- Never leave any personal identification, keys or credit cards anywhere in the vehicle
- Park in well-lit areas where there are plenty of passers-by
- Purchase stereo components or cellular phone accessories that can be removed and put out of sight
- Never leave your vehicle running and unattended
- Secure your car with an electronic alarm, kill switch, or steering wheel-locking device
- If you park your car but don’t use it regularly, check it daily
- If you valet park in a commercial lot, leave only the ignition key and make certain that identifying information is not attached
