What makes Brazilian music so irresistible? How and why does it keep shaping the sound of today鈥檚 pop music?
Join us for an immersive, all-levels workshop on the rhythms of Brazilian music and their influence on contemporary artists across genres. From samba to bossa nova through samba-reggae, we鈥檒l explore the Brazilian grooves that have shaped modern pop music.
This workshop will trace connections from Jo茫o Gilberto鈥檚 bossa nova guitar, to Michael Jackson鈥檚 collaborations with Olodum, to the modern sounds of artists like Noname and Laufey.
Whether you鈥檙e a performer looking to deepen your rhythmic vocabulary, a producer wanting to expand their arranging/sequencing techniques, or a listener curious about the roots of today鈥檚 pop music, this workshop will help deepen your understanding of Brazilian rhythm.
